Latest Updates from Our Project:

Shipping Charges Incoming
6 months ago – Tue, Sep 30, 2025 at 03:29:38 PM

Hello Crawlers!

This is your heads up that we're about to charge your cards for shipping. I think we're very close to being spot on with the estimates provided in the Kickstarter.

Here are some examples:

  • Hardcover Book, US-Backer: $9 instead of $8, and just a few dollars more if you added something like the tarot deck.
  • Softcover Book, UK-Backer: $8 instead of $7.

Original Estimated Shipping Costs:
US: $8+
CAN: $10+ ($20+ for Hardcover)
EU: $10+ ($25+ for Hardcover)
UK: $7+ ($25+ for Hardcover)
AU: $13+ ($30+ for Hardcover)
Rest of World: $20+ ($30+ for Hardcover)

This one turned out to be a bit wonky, as we're shipping in a couple of different waves, and we have both PoD and print run options on most things, so if you end up with an issue or a question, just reach out, and we'll see how we can help.

I'll touch base again in a few days with any updates.

New Files & Production Updates
7 months ago – Mon, Sep 08, 2025 at 10:39:45 AM

Hey there, Crawlers!

Zac here with another update. I added several more digital files to your Backerkit downloads this week. You should have received an email notification. Here's the details:

  • Printable: Hex tokens for the regional map on an A5-sized paper.
  • Printable: A3 regional map, both with the detailed hex locations and without.
  • For Web: Deck of Crawlers cards! David, our layout artist, also threw in a bonus format for you on these.

The VTT modules are also closer to being done, though not as close as I wanted. I'd say we're at about 70% on both of those.

The card decks are prepping for the printer (they'll take a while), and the maps & hex sheets are at a domestic printer (they should be done within a week or so). The big news is that the hardcover books are 100% complete!

If you have a chance, we'd love for you to check out the card decks and let us know if you catch any errors before we go to print.

Shipping Dates

What this means is that we're going to start ramping up for shipping, but only for orders that don't contain the card deck.

If your order included just the hardcover, map, & hex sheets, we'll likely be able to start shipping in the next 30 days.

If your order contained the card deck, it will take a while longer, but we still expect to be well ahead of our estimated delivery dates.

We haven't collected shipping yet, so you'll get an email in a couple of weeks asking you to pop back into Backerkit to approve the charge.

Point of Contact

If you have questions regarding Backerkit or your order in general, please reach out to me (Zac) on Discord (@zacgoins) or via email ([email protected]).

If you have questions regarding book printings, shipping, or print-on-demand softcovers, please connect with Jeff Jones (our publisher) via email ([email protected]).

I think that about covers it for this update!

Actually, hold on, if you haven't yet, I'd love for you to check out my insane Dino-RPG called Raptor Ruckus! It's on Kickstarter right now, is doing very, very well, and may just be...right up your alley. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/epicrpgs/raptor-ruckus-rpg-0

Also, also, Jeff and I are hard at work with another Shadowdark set of supplements, this time all about demons and devils! It doesn't go live for another month or so, but we'd love to have you check it out: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1580058713/dark-devilry-for-the-shadowdark-rpg?ref=8q78ff

New Files & Progress Report
8 months ago – Sat, Aug 09, 2025 at 01:29:59 PM

Hey there, Crawlers!

Zac here with a quick update. Today, I added several zip files to your Backerkit downloads. That should have all the maps numbered and unnumbered and ready for both print and VTT upload. They are under "Devoured Dungeons" in your downloads.

We're also neck-deep in the crawler pregen card layout. I should have the digital files for you on that next month.

The VTT modules are also coming along nicely, now that we've got a finished file. We're about 40% done with the first two regions, which were unlocked through stretch goals, and I anticipate being able to deliver those next month as well.

Print files have gone out to the printer. They determined that there was too much detail to do the silver foil, so we opted to do spot gloss on the front cover, back cover artwork, and spine. It sounds like it'll be about a month or so before those books are finished and ready for us to start shipping.

Temple of the Bone Mongers

This is another project from one of our dungeon designers, Jeff Stevens, and is an adventure featuring two mapped areas totaling 20 rooms, new magic items and weapons, plus a handful of new creatures.

Jeff's always excellent, so be sure to give it a follow!

Ragnaborg

Yet another one of our designers is prepping to launch their own project. Erica Lowe is going all out on Ragnaborg, a Viking-themed hack of the Mork Borg system. If you don't know her, she's a powerhouse ambassador for the OSR community, and we're beyond stoked to have had her on this project.

Give her your full support here!

That's it for now. Expect another update in a few weeks once we have some more deliverables to drop your way.

Pledge Manger Going Live & Progress!
9 months ago – Sun, Jul 20, 2025 at 08:17:31 AM

Hello backers!

Zac here with an exciting update! We're ready to start firing things off. Here's a timeline:

  • This Week: Backerkit goes live. PDFs will be delivered approximately at the end of the week. There's new content(!) to be found in the add-ons section, so be sure to browse a bit before completing your survey.
  • Now-August 5th [Review Period]: Your chance to catch any errors that our two editors and multiple leads missed before we go to print.
  • August 11th [Book to Printer]: It's a domestic printer, so it shouldn't take too long.

We'll give you additional updates further along. The Crawler Deck just got all its artwork completed, for example, but we haven't dropped all that into the card template.

Please keep an eye on your email this week for invites to the Backerkit!

ENNIES!

A product that my co-lead Andrew wrote for is nominated for an ENNIE! The ENNIES are the major TTRPG industry award, and the final winner is chosen by the fans!

Andrew contributed an adventure to the 5e collection Grizelda's Cursed Curiosities from Scoundrel Game Labs. This project was also brought to life though Kickstarter.  You can support Andrew by finding the project under Best Adventure (Long Form) and casting your vote for it here: https://vote.ennie-awards.com/vote/2025/.  You do not have to vote for every category.

If you want to check out the project, you can view its original Kickstarter page and grab a complete 5e adventure as part of the free preview there: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/scoundrelgamelabs/grizeldas-cursed-curiosities-5e-ghost-hunting-adventures/description

Also, I think, Kelsey & the Arcane Library crew are up for another ENNIE as well, so you can kill two birds with one stone with your votes!

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO VOTE!

OTHER STUFF!

Two of our dungeon designers have other projects live on Kickstarter right now! These fellas are the best...really. They're just great people, making fun stuff. I love them.

Jeff Jones: Gary's Appendix 8

The banner may say OSE, but from experience with the other 7 issues, I can tell you that Gary's Appendix is a homerun hitter for fans of the OSR in general. It's chock-full of helpful articles packed with GM tips and tricks, thoughtful reminiscences, and clever tactics.

Issue 8 just launched, so go grab it, and if you're new to the series, do yourself a favor and snag the whole line while you're at it: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1580058713/garys-appendix-issue-8

Bill Harvat: Righteous Vow 3

I don't need to tell you about Bill and Righteous Vow, right? Everybody and their mom is already a fan, and for good reason. What you may not know is that this Kickstarter is offering hardcover versions of all three issues!

He's almost at $20,000, and I think you and I may be able to push him over the edge by tomorrow. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/crawlclub/righteous-vow-a-rpg-zine-for-old-school-gaming

That's it for today, I'll yell at you again when we're neck deep in the Pledge Manager release.

Funded and a Super Finish!
9 months ago – Sun, Jun 29, 2025 at 02:28:07 PM

Hi Folks,

Andrew here with a short update. First and foremost - thank you! We did it! Yeah! Obviously we've known that we were funded for a while, but we finished strong with over a thousand backers, and well past our estimates. Trust me that both Zac and I, as well as well several of our awesome team were watching the numbers until the very end with excitement.

After taking a couple of days to breathe, here are our next steps:

  • The book is now 100% written and edited.
  • We expect that sometime this coming week we'll have our first look at the first draft of the fully laid-out book.
  • Once we have the final draft, we're doing to do a final proofreading pass (or 10) just to squash as many things as we can. (No product makes it to print perfect, but we're going to do our due diligence).
  • Concurrently with all this, we're setting up our Backerkit to help manage pledges. It will also allow for late pledges if anyone's missed anything.
  • We expect the Backerkit up in about 3 weeks, and delivery of the digital copy of the book will follow shortly after that.
  • For those wondering about our back cover, Yuri is hard at work on that, and it'll be ready to show the world in about a week. There'll definitely be an update.

Thank you all, more soon!

Andrew
